Dr. Phil Phylaktou is an experienced Family Physician with affiliations in both the USA and the EU. He holds memberships in prestigious medical organizations, including WONCA the International Association of Family Physicians, the American Academy of Family Physicians, American Medical Association, American Osteopathic Association, American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians, and EAMA the European Academy of Medicine of Ageing.

Dr. Phylaktou served as the Owner of The LCA Family Health Center in Larnaka, Cyprus from 1997-2017. His professional expertise lies in three primary areas: Family Medicine practice, Geriatrics, with a postgraduate course from the European Academy of the Medicine of Ageing, and comprehensive knowledge of Osteoporosis, spanning prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation from osteoporotic fractures. He has dedicated more than the past decade to daily involvement in bone densitometry research, employing methods such as QUS and DEXA scanning for Osteoporosis measurement.
In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Phylaktou has been actively engaged in various roles within the medical community. He served as the Past President of the Cyprus Association of General Practice from 2004 – 2014 and held the position of Vice President of the Board of the Association until the election of the current Board. He was also a Past Member of the Board of the Larnaca Medical Council and served as Vice President for Larnaca within the Cyprus Association of Osteoporosis. On an international level, he represented Cyprus as the National Representative on the EURACT Academy for Family Physicians and is a direct member of the WONCA International Society of Family Physicians.
Dr. Phylaktou’s educational journey includes a Pre-Medical Degree in BIO Science from St. Louis University (MO, USA) followed by his graduation from the Kansas City University of Medicine & Biosciences. He completed his Internship and Residency in Family Medicine at St. Louis University, Deaconess West Medical Center. His research thesis, conducted at Washington University Medical School, was centered around Osteosarcoma and Bone Disease.
He is currently based in a group practice at the Medical Center of the S. Kyriakides Surgical clinic in Larnaca, Cyprus in his busy Family Medicine practice as a Family physician (of the private sector) for the GESY national health system of Cyprus.
